Versatile Topping Applicator Optimizes Performance and Sanitary Design

Grote Company showcases new Waterfall Topping Applicator at Process Expo 2011

Company President Bob Grote and Sales Manager Andy Schneider proudly display Grote’s new Waterfall Topping Applicator at Process Expo 2011

Grote’s AP Series Waterfall Topping Applicator automatically and evenly applies a wide variety of toppings including shredded cheese, dry ingredients, and individually quick frozen (IQF) meats and vegetables onto pizza crusts, French bread or bagels. With its cantilevered frame and open channel-welded construction, the AP Series applicator offers superior sanitary design and maximizes performance.

Built for the most demanding food processing environments, the AP Series applicator is manufactured of rugged, corrosion resistant stainless steel and utilizes FDA compatible thermoplastics in all food and splash zones. Available in three standard widths (20”, 30” and 40”), the hopper and pass-through conveyor belts are easily removable in less than five minutes for daily cleaning. Both conveyors include stainless steel bearings, motors and gearboxes as standard features.

The waterfall topping applicator offers several innovative design features which optimize efficiency and performance. Grote’s unique hopper rake system utilizes round tines to deliver better product distribution and less product damage over a wide range of toppings. In addition, the flinger wheel offers compound adjustability for superior trajectory control of toppings over the full range of IQF products.

For maximum efficiency, Grote offers an optional three belt return conveyor system to recapture, recirculate and reload excess topping ingredients into the hopper. Other options include an adjustable height rake assembly with indicator scale and single point adjustment, and automatic hopper level control.

Grote Releases New HS Series Product Stabilizing System

clamp test1a(1)We are excited to announce the release of our most recent enhancement to the Grote HS-Series family of slicers: the Product Stabilizing System (PSS). Designed specifically for the pre-cooked bacon industry, the Grote Product Stabilizing System mechanically compensates for variations in bacon belly sizing. The positive gripping action provided by this new patent-pending system keeps bacon bellies stable during the slicing stroke, while releasing to allow for gravity feed during the return stroke.

This unique system allows bacon processors to achieve significant reduction in yield losses and product giveaway normally associated with loose fitting bacon bellies.

In terms of a return on investment, this system could pay for itself in a matter of months.

  • Lab tests have produced nominal yield improvements of no less than .001″ per slice on pressed bacon bellies, resulting in a yield increase of 2-3 additional slices per belly and 1-2 additional usable slices through each belly transition.
  • All mechanical system; no modifications to electrical controls or power supplies required.
  • No restrictions to standard operating speeds.
  • Available as an option on all new Grote High Speed Slicers and as a field modification kit on most existing High Speed Slicers currently in service.
  • No additional time required to change-out product holders.
  • Easy to clean.
